| General Informations -
The EURO Currency Starting on 1st of January 1999 there was a new currency introduced in Europe, which is called EURO. The symbol for it is €. 1 EURO (€) is divided into 100 Euro CENT. From that day on the Euro (€ ) is the only official currency in the participating 12 European Countries: Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal and Spain. There are several Euro ( € ) coins ; 1, 2 and 5 cent coins. 10, 20 and 50 cent coins and 1 and 2 Euro coins. The rest is papermoney ; 5, 10, 20 and 50 Euro bills, 100, 200 and 500 Euro bills. The conversion rates between the EURO ( € ) and the old twelve national currencies were fixed. In all participating countries you can only still pay with the Euro ( € ) coins and notes.
