Sylvia & Juan Manuel ( occupation: orhtopaedic surgeon ), Bogota - Columbia; Mar. 1998
Dear Ruud & Therese: It was really the best in Amsterdam: being here in your cozy house and such a charmy neighborhood. One can't tell the difference between being in a Hotel or with you. Keep on like this and remember: you've already got friends in Bogota - Columbia.
PS: Ruud is a great tourist guide !

Patty & James (occupation: students), Canada; Apr. 1998

Pat. (occupation: firefighter) Toronto - Canada; May 1998
To paraphrase Cole Porter (I think);S' Wonderful, S' Marvelous, S' Gezellig !!!
I had a great 2 weeks here - thanks for everything ! I will never forget my first attempt on the scooter - I will !! be back on a bigger bike next time.
- Remember the " dancing, smoking Viennese ", the " fairy grit ", the " BEER + oude jenever " and my many failed attempts at speaking Dutch ( Zaanse Schans comes to mind ! )
I'll be back very soon, Love Pat.... Doei..... peege@echo-on.net

Janet & Peter (occupation: vetenarian / lawyer) Massachusetts - USA; May 1998
Peter and I are feeling our time too short here in your Guest-Home. Thank you for your graciousness and comfortable environs. Be mindful of the fact you are responsible for our definite return to the Netherlands. Dank U veel, tot straks ! pegoll@bu.edu

Glenda & John & Greg (occupation: chem.engineer/city council) Kenai - Alaska; June 1998

Karen & Steve & kids (occupation: Flying doctor) Darwin area - Australia; June 1998
Many thanks for having us, to say " the Kangaroos & the Joeys " It was so nice to have some space of our own and to be away from the hustle & bustle of the city albeit beautiful. If Kakadu lures you, please let us know...

Koba & Hannes (occupation: tech. engineer) Capetown - South Afrika; June 1998
Thanks for your hospitality and kindness. We have enjoyed our stay very much. The room was cozy and comfortable. We have enjoyed staying in your beautiful neighborhood. We love to come back !
" Het dit baie geniet ! "

Cathy & Harry (occupation: ?) Vancouver, Washington - USA; June 1998
We've had a most enjoyable time her. Iracious hosts, comfortable room and good food. Thanks to Ruud's suggestions of interesting places to visit, we stumbled onto some sights and met some nice people.
"Hoorn" and "Muiden" were unique Dutch towns. It was nice to escape the press of humanity on the bustling streets of the huge city.
Next trip, we'd like to bring both of our adult children, finish those other rooms.....so we can rent the whole floor ! (done that....)

Sarah & Kari (occupation: ?) Toronto - Canada; June 1998
Thanks for all the great advice, warm hospitality and tasty morning treats...We've truly enjoyed our stay in Amsterdam - which would have been considerably more awkward without your help (and all the great literature in our room !).
We took your advice about arriving early at the Anne Frank House to find no line when we arrived, but by the time we left the house, the line was extended all the way back to "Westerkirk". It would have been a terrible wait to get in !
Our favorite highlights of your fine city?
- Van GoghMuseum - Anne Frank House - Rijsttafel ( Indonesian Food ) - and all the wonderful canals.
We love Amsterdam. Thanks for inviting us into your home.

Anne & Jay (occupation: teacher) Bahrain ; July 1998
We were certainly fortunate to find your homepage on the "web". The wonderful accommodations and excellent transportation made this a truly great first visit to Holland. Sorry for the confusion about the ferry on day 1....As my husband can tell you I have the world's worst sense of direction.
Let us know if you get to Bahrain (next year) or Florida and we would love to see you in either place and put you up mailto:uhuffera@mail.firm.edu

Jennifer & Roger (occupation: ?) Calgary - Alberta, Canada; July 1998
Our time with you has been memorable, our chats at breakfast and in the evenings have been most enjoyable. Ruud, thanks for your ordering of the great weather... it sure added to our stay in Amsterdam! We have often said during our stay how lucky we were to be staying as your guests as we know our holiday in Amsterdam would not have been the same without you both.
Your warm hospitality is much appreciated. We would love to have you come and stay with us sometime in the future. We could show you some true "Western" hospitality...

Helle & Alex (occupation: technology) Denmark; July 1998
I found your address at your Web page. It sounded good....and we looked forward to our 4 days in Amsterdam.
We were so lucky, the weather was very nice, knowing that Denmark offered rain, cold weather etc. it was beautiful here, sunny and warm and we enjoyed our stay very much. Amsterdam is an interesting city which we have not seen for the last time.....Your hospitality especially breakfast and breakfast time was a very nice and cozy time. We wish you well and will absolutely save your address for us and friends...

John & Paul (occupation: teacher) Pittsburg - USA; July 1998
We enjoyed our stay very much, and are appreciative of your charming home and hospitality.
Please come stay with us in Pittsburg when you come to the US. We'll be in touch. Warm regards Bigpabear@aol.com

Un gros merci a nos hotes pour avoir rendu notre sejour si agreable...

Imola & Bulash (occupation: marketing) Budapest - Hungary; Aug 1998
When I'm abroad I always feel a little bit "lost", because I don't know anything. It was our first time in Amsterdam and we never felt "lost" thanks for you!
I hope you can make "Hortoba'gy-pancake", if not just come and visit us and we will make it for you again...

Mario & Maria (occupation: ?) Rio Grande - Brasil; Sept. 1998
Thank you for a lovely stay in Guest House and the breakfast too. We had a great time in Amsterdam. We love to come back as soon as possible

Pat & Ron (occupation: ? Akron - USA; Oct. 1998
Thanks for making a pleasant trip just a little more wonderful ! We're so happy we chose your peaceful B&B rather then the Bustle of "Center City". A nice place to visit but we wouldn't want to stay there ! Thanks for all your help with directions, restaurants etcetera. Please add us to your list of stops in the U.S. !!!

Diana & Gabriel (occ: ?) Italy ; Nov. 1998
It was really very nice to feel like at home here. We enjoyed it very much, and we liked every detail, from "deco" to the way breakfast was served for us to pick up and bring into the room. Thanks a lot, in different languages:...

Louann (occ: administration and it) York - USA ; Dec. 1998
Thank you for the wonderful welcome and stay at your B&B. For my first trip to Europe I think you have spoiled me. I will be expecting every place to have nothing but the nicest hosts (who take time for you....) and one of the loveliest home's (very well decorated) so cozy and warm.

Ron & Marie - Tennessee, USA, April 1999
The world would be much better off if all the people would be as kind, sharing and warm as you have been with us. We will always treasure your friendship. We hope you all will come to Tennessee and visit us. We have enjoyed this stay much more then others because you cared enough to tell us places to go. Keep up the good work.

Lucille & Dorothy - Chigago, USA, May 1999
Our stay with you was more like a visit with old friends and our enjoyment of the parts of Holland we visited was made very special by your guidance, help with transportation and excellent suggestions. To think we found you on the Web !
Thank you from two grateful guests. You know where to find us if you want to visit the MidWest...

Thank you so much for your gracious hospitality. You helped to make our visit to Amsterdam really spectacular. Thank you for the good breakfasts, for meeting us at the Ferry-stop with all the luggage (and for taking us back too !), for all the good advise, and especially for telling us about and taking us to the Dutch Village with interesting windmills. Dear Ruud & Therese,
Your kind hospitality has been much appreciated. We never imagined when we found 'Arrantea Guest House' on the Internet, how wonderful it would be and in such a pretty, rural neighbourhood. The baby cignets that hatched down the road to these proud Swans will be a memory we won't easily forget. Thank you for going that extra mile for us. We will definitely recommend 'Arrantea' to our friends. Jumping on and off of your wonderful efficient city bus service was fun and definitely to be recommended ! The day pass is the best !
Thank you once again !
Joanne & Graham - Manchester, England, August 2000
Dear Ruud & Therese,
We have thoroughly enjoyed our first stay in Amsterdam (apart from the odd rain storm !). There are some beautiful buildings and museums and there's probably much we haven't seen. Your hospitality has been wonderful, especially the leaving of breakfast - this would be a good idea for English Guest Houses -
Your Guest House will definitely be recommended for anyone coming to Amsterdam. Thank you very much.
Sharyl & Alex - Dundee, Scotland, September 2000
Dear Ruud & Therese,

Dear R & T,
We have a pleasant time in staying your house which is wonderful & lovely. In the past 4 day's, we have seen quite a few interesting stuff in Amsterdam. The life in the city is so lively & animated. We enjoyed ourselves pretty much. But….the weather here is unbelievably freezing that we've never yet experienced in our life. Anyway, thank you for everything which you did for us !
Linda & Melinda Walker, Chigago, December 2000
Ruud & Therese,
Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. Even the snow in the streets were fine with us, for Chigago is much colder. The warm down comforters after hot tea were heavenly !
Carol & Mervyn Hobbs, Cape Town, South Africa, January 2001
Ruud & Therese,
Many, many thanks for your kindness and great hospitality. Your home and town are really charming and one can really relax here and enjoy the town atmosphere. Thank you also for the airport pick up and return, I don't know what we would have done with all our luggage. We have appreciated all you have done te make our stay here a memorable one…. Baie dankie…

Dear Ruud und Therese,

I hope one day we could come again to stay again at your house. Soory we didn't speak with you to much but we had only 2 day's to see Amsterdam. See you soon ! Lovely greetings !
Tom & Pauline, Venice NY, USA, April 2001
Ruud & Therese,
Finding your webpage on the ineternet was one of the several fortunate happenings regarding the planning of our visit to Amsterdam and the Netherlands. Very pleasant and helpful hosts, convenient location to travel, and a pleasant, quiet and interesting setting - all make your place the best place of rest for the traveller. Though I've wished the weather had been more cooperative, the tulips blooms fuller, we've had so many and such a variety of experiences, this visit will be one we will remember in the years ahead. With so much of the world yet to be seen, another visit to Amsterdam will most likely have only the aspect of a stopover, but this visit even then, will add an additional dimention to such a stopover and you'll certainly be tops on our list for accommodations. Thanks so much for being such gracious hosts. Best wishes.
Katha & Jurgen, Bielefeld, Germany, May 2001
Well, we've been here 4 nights - do we have to go home ? How should we be able to fall asleep tonight without the frogs-concerto outside our window ? Sparky the cat is a wondeful "host" and I and my husband were happy to enjoy his generous hospitality…. Those breakfasts were great ! VIVA Amsterdam !! Hooray for the 'Koffie Verkeerd' and 'Apple Cake with lots of Slagroom' We hope to see you soon !!!!
David & Sandy, Myrtle Beach, Florida USA, June 2001
Dear Rudd & Teresa,
Thank you so much for opening up your home to us ! It made our first visit perfect. The Breakfasts were unbelievable, what a treat to wake up to. The trip to the 12th century Castle + our dinner with you were definitely highlights of our stay. We found so many wonderful areas in your city and can't wait to visit again soon (maybe with our Motorcycle next time !) we feel like we are leaving your city with 'new friends'! : ) we will keep in touch and hopefully return next year with friends….
Kelly & Corey Henderson, Calgary Alberta, Canada, July 2001

Therese & Ruud,
Thank you for putting up with all of our insanity. Between ferrying us to TokTok, taking phone messages, and calling the bus depot, you really bent over backwards to make our stay so wondeful. There's no way we'd have gotten such goos service from a hotel. Thanks so much !
Jane Amich & family, California, USA, July 2002
Kind hosts,
This has been a pleasant change from our usual hotel experience. I'm glad to have found your website ! Thank you.
Kath & Jack Dickinson, Preston, England, August 2002
Dear Rudd & Therese,
Thanks for your hospitality. This was my first stay in Amsterdam. This holiday is actualy our honeymoon as we got married 3rd August 2002. Jack has been here many times due to his work but this 'cottage' has been a pleasant retreat after many many hours of walking and shopping. The quiet, safe area has been fantastic to come home too after hours of the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam. Also the breakfast was amazing. Thank you, love...

Dick & Barbara Edmiston, Brookings Oregon, USA, Sept. 2002
Thanks so much for sharing your charming home with us. We enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and the beautiful, tranquil neighbourhood tremendously. We were able to see the Floriade one day and then tour the city + the area of the windmills the next day. Thank for your recommendation for the charming traditionaly Dutch Restaurant in the village. We enjoyed it so much, we ate there twice !

Hettie & Suelen, Cape Town, South Africa, October 2002

Dear Ruud & Therese,
After many kilometers by foot through all the 'grachten (canals)' we were so lucky to fall into bed in your house and to wake up and enjoy this delicious breakfast. We already think about to come another time to Amsterdam only to visit all those nice museums. Four days are quite short, but we tried our best and we are happy to visit such a nice place in the world. Danke und bis bald.

Ruud & Teresa,
We really enjoyed Amsterdam and the stay at your place. You have provided a very nice place. We are from Washington State, USA and we enjoyed the differences in cultures. We visited Paris first. Then we came here and then plan to go to London, England. We are traveling with 'the Graves' and your accommodation worked really well for two couples/ We really like your breakfast closet... that  is a great idea. If you ever make it to the Western United States we would like to put you up for a few nights. Thanks !

We have spent 2 days in Amsterdam and here are our conclusions about this city : People are friendly, kind and stressless... why ?... Is it because of the number of coffee shops ? because of the fries (patat) with mayonaise ? or because of good sx ? The answer is 'no' It's onlybecause of the 'Van Gogh Museum' ! So, yes people are cool in Amsterdam but we've found the coolest persons over here, even though we didn't talk a lot (because of time) ; the Gooses ! and their friendly house and cat ! Thank you for your hospitality, advice and very good breakfast ! We'll be back soon (but better in Summer )
Pam & Mel Conell, Pennsylvania, USA, April 2006
