When do I have to make my reservation?

One of the mostly asked questions. Sorry, but we cannot give an exact answer.

Our tip: make it as early as possible. Right after you decide to travel and have booked your flights.

Why this early?

Well, the car/motorhome rental companies start planning their fleet and ordering their vehicles already one year or even more in advance. At this stage they do not yet know exactly the number of reservations they will receive for the oncoming period.

To make their companies profitable the size of the fleet must be in accordance with the expected market demands which, as said before, are not exactly known at time of planning, or the fleet must be even smaller than the business they expect. This may result in a tight offer where only those rental requests can be confirmed, which are booked well in advance.

Arrantea is a small 'family run' Motorhome Rental Enterprise mainly as an extention to our B&B establishment and as an extra service to our guests. We have a limited amount of Motorhomes available and they are easily booked out, especialy in the mid- and high-season. This is probably also due to the fact that we (Arrantea Motorhomes) do not have the very latest models, but young and shortly used vehicles with the same comfort, low mileage and therefore still highly reliable.
This also means that Arrantea Motorhomes are less expensive as the vehicles offered by the big companies…. We are not afraid of any comparison and are certain you will not find (financialy) a better deal..... 

So…. the total fleet size must be taken in consideration. Many rental companies, mainly those in Europe, operate only a fleet of about 20 to 30 vehicles in peak season. Much less in off season.

Finally there is a tendency from other country's customers to place their motorhome reservations very early, which also reduces for late bookers the availability of vehicles for a preferred travel period. At Arrantea Motorhomes we get lots of reservations especialy from 'overseas', countries like Canada, USA, (South)Africa and Australia.

And last but not least there are Travel Trends playing an important role. There might be a country for many years on a normal rental level. And just of a sudden everybody wants to visit it, and it becomes the 'Hit of the Year'. Amsterdam is a popular travel destination for many years already, so a surplus would mean shortage on all fronts…

How about the Off Season?

To avoid any over fleeting in the off seasons, cars for the high season are bought shortly before it and the old vehicle are sold shortly after it. This helps to have a reasonable vehicle utilization due to a smaller fleet in the off seasons and a bigger one in high season. But according to this practice there might be reservation turn downs also for off season customers, if booked to late.

That's why our tip (without being prejudice) is : make it as early as possible ! Right after you decide to travel, and have booked your flights....
